Women Health issues in Texas and the Anti-abortion Law

          http://www.burntorangereport.com/diary/14078/read-about-two-texas-women-denied-health-care-because-of-the-new-antiabortion-law
Just typical of our governmentThe saying that comes to mind is one bad apple spoils the bunch.  To me that’s what abortion is, one bad apple that spoils a bunch.  This clinic in Bryan, TX that provides women’s health care and abortions was shut down just because of the “bad apple”.  It is important that women seek yearly treatments to preserve or correct any abnormalities that go on in our bodies.  We are uniquely and wonderfully made, our bodies and the inner workings are complex.  These anti- abortion groups need to look at the bigger picture before they try to ride in and “save the day”.  You know the government and the anti- abortion groups remind me of the big over- zealous meat head boyfriend who thinks he is doing his girlfriend a favor by thinking she needs rescuing from…humph, shall I say the bad apple in the bunch.  Typical “meat-head govt.” would offer suggestions that are meaningless.  According to anti -abortion group, Pro- life Aggi es suggest that there are plenty other clinics and doctors to help women find other providers.

The fact remains that 97 percent of Planned Parenthood services are non-abortion related services that several women depend on, especially poor women who would otherwise have no other place to obtain such services.  Well, just one problem government meat-head, many weren’t taking new patients or didn’t provide women’s health at all. It is a sad story that men always think they know better what is best for women. No one in the Texas legislature has bothered to ask what is the underlying reason why a woman many want to opt for abortion. No law has been passed lately to compel men who impregnate these women to provide unfettered support to them from the time of conception till the child becomes old enough to provide for him/her.  How about making laws that make it illegal for a man to impregnate any woman other than his legal wife? How many of our male legislatures will go for that?  It is no longer a secret that in 2004, Texas ranked 46th in women’s health (http://www.herplace.com/hormone-info/state-rankings.htm
Nine years later, specifically, the state of Texas received a grade of “F” and had a ranking of 45-of-50 in women health. Women in Texas make 78 cents for every dollar a man makes and has 17th-smallest wage gap in the United States. For Hispanic women, the result is even alarming 45 cents for every dollar a white male makes, and more than 19 percent of women in Texas live in poverty. Compared to a big state such as California with almost same ethnicity makeup, the state of California fared much better.  Read more: http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2013/09/26/Texas-one-of-the-worst-states-for-women-California-one-of-the-best/UPI-82201380175173/#ixzz2gCmenbYm
We cannot risk losing our lives to serious health issues due to the government being short sighted and refusing to see that these clinics provide care to low income women who otherwise could not afford it.  Open your eyes and look at this as a whole and instead of one bad apple that is spoiling the bunch that could ultimately cost a woman her life.
